1. Product Introduction

Glass Fiber Surface Mat is a non-woven composite material engineered for superior surface protection and aesthetic enhancement in FRP (Fiber-Reinforced Plastic) laminates. Composed of randomly oriented E-glass fibers bonded with polyester or epoxy-compatible binders, it delivers a smooth, resin-rich finish to composite parts. This product minimizes fiber print-through, improves interlaminar bonding, and acts as a corrosion-resistant barrier, making it ideal for applications demanding high durability and visual appeal in marine, automotive, and construction industries.

 
2. Production Process
Step Description
Fiber Cutoff Continuous glass rovings are cut into 1.5-3 inch lengths for uniform distribution.
Binder Application Fibers are bonded using polyester, acrylic, or epoxy binders for structural integrity.
Random Distribution Cutoff fibers are spread evenly on a moving belt to form a non-woven mat.
Curing Heat treatment activates binder curing, ensuring dimensional stability.
Quality Control Parameters like weight (30-100 gsm), thickness (0.2-0.5 mm), and adhesion are tested.
 
3. Usage Precautions
  • Storage: Keep in dry, cool environments (<35% RH) away from humidity and direct sunlight.
  • Temperature Limits: Operate within -40°C to 120°C; avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat.
  • Chemical Compatibility: Compatible with polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resins. Avoid contact with strong acids, solvents, or alkaline solutions.
